KL Bird Park Coloring Contest - 18th December 2011

"Nurturing young artistic talents". That was one of the main purposes that this contest was organized for. This coloring contest has seen a total of 160 participants ranging from participants as young as 3 years old to participants aged 12. Even though not every one of the participants can bring home the top prizes, KL Bird Park ensured that no one of the participants go home empty handed that day. KL Bird Park would like to congratulate both Mohd Haikal Asraf B Kamal and Anas Izanil Abd Wahid for winning the top prize in their respective category which consist of cash vouchers worth RM500, a school bag & stationery set. Spread the Seeds of Love Cultural Exchange Tour 2011

KL Bird Park was one of the many stops of the ‘Spread the Seeds of Love Cultural Exchange Tour 2011’. On the 14th August 2011, some 30 children from Amitofo Care Centre Africa came over to park for a day tour plus one special performance of song and dance at KL Bird Park’s Amphitheater. Amitofo Care Centre is an organization founded and directed by Buddhist clergy from the East with an aspiration and mission to directly rear and care for orphans of Africa within the humanitarian and educational umbrella. This meaningful event was jointly organized by Amitofo Care Charity Association of Malaysia and Persatuan Anak-anak Yatim Eduwis Selangor.

                               

KL Bird Park,  besides being one of the main sponsors for this particular stop of the tour, has also donated RM 10,000 to Amitofo Care Charity Association of Malaysia to help them continue their humanitarian work.  [top]


 

 

ATP World Tour 250 Players Photo Session – 27th Sept 2010


World No. 18 Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus and World No.9 Mikhail Youzhny of the Russian Federation recently paid KL Bird Park a visit as part of the activities for the Malaysian Open , Kuala Lumpur 2010. This brief photo session has seen both tennis stars interacting with various exotic bird species while being photographed.  [top]


 



The Great KL Bird Park IKANO Event Returns – 4th till 20th of June 2010

As a result of the amazing response to 2009’s event and the wonderful collaboration experience between KL Bird Park & IKANO Power Centre, the second installment of this event was held at IKANO Power Centre from the 4th till the 20th of June. This event promised to be bigger & better.
So maybe there will be more installments of this event to come?

Martha Stewart, Live At KL Bird Park – 21 May 2010

Martha Stewart, America’s Domestic Goddess, decided to make a scheduled stop-over at KL Bird Park on May 21st, 2010. Accompanied by her niece, Sophie Herbert, good friend Memrie Lewis and experienced park staffs; Ms Stewart a bird-lover herself made good use of her 2 hours visit to the park by interacting with, feeding and taking photographs with various birds. Among the birds that she pleasantly cross-paths with are lories, hornbills, cockatoos, macaws and Kitty the Malay Eagle-Owl. To sum-up the whole visit, as per Ms Stewart’s, Ms Herbert’s and Ms Lewis’s honest beaming expression at the end of the visit, one could for sure presume that they had a great time!

Kiwanis Club of Damansara’s Away Day – 16 Jan 2010


Members of Kiwanis Club of Damansara decided that this was good day to KL Bird Park for a day of rest, relaxation and fun. To make this day even more unforgettable, that have decided to bring along a group of 50 young friends from Myanmar to join them. On this day, the language barrier almost seemed non-existent. The children and members of Kiwanis Club went on an exclusive tour around the park with KL Bird Park’s ranger which was then followed by an entertaining half hour bird show at the amphitheater. Many birds seen during the exclusive tour were new to the children and the picture of amazement was clearly seen on their faces.  [top]


 


SP Setia Kid’s Club Birthday Party @ KL Bird Park - 22 Nov 2009



Normally a birthday party would celebrate the birth day of one individual. But SP Setia decided to do something different – they decided to celebrate the birthdays of all the members from their kid’s club all at once! It was a challenge that KL Bird Park was delighted to take up.[top]


 


Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) - The Amazing Hornbill Camp 2009

On 21st November 2009, MNS came over to KL Bird Park with their young campers for a half day of fun and learning as part of their The Amazing Hornbill Camp 2009’s activities. The day started off with a short educational talk about hornbills, specifically about hornbills in Malaysia. After a short handicraft session of ‘Bean Art’, the group head off for guided tour with a specific agenda, to see all the hornbill species found in KL Bird Park. The half day at KL Bird Park ended positively and the MNS group advance on to their next activity feeling inspired.[top]


 


Soroptimist International Damansara’s Day Out – 14 Nov 2009



Soroptimist International (Damansara), “A Global Voice for Women”, played host to a fun-filled and exciting event in honor of the SID Literacy Competition 2009 winners and the 9 participating children’s home and centers held at KL Bird Park. Also present that day was representatives from JP Morgan. The day was jammed packed with activities like essay/poem reading session, prize and mock cheque presentation, guided tours of the park, Bird Hunt and bird show. Though it was an exhausting day, the smiles on each of the children’s faces made it all worthwhile.[top]


 


KPMG & Persatuan Kanak-kanak Istimewa Kajang's Fun Day - 15 Aug 2009

 

This was the day children / persons with learning disabilities from PKIK have their much needed break from their everyday training programs. This much needed break was courtesy of KPMG. It was nearly a full day's program, arranged by KPMG, with the second half of the day at KL Bird Park. Among the activities held that day were KL Bird Park's Bird Quest and Thank You card making workshop, both activities specially "engineered" by KL Bird Park for the students of PKIK . Though it was a tiring day, but it was a day well spent. The children / students of PKIK left the park exhausted, in high spirits and with a little gift from KPMG.[top]


 


Standard Chartered Bank SME Banking & Rumah Solehah Outing 2009



Many tend to forget or didn't know that we could still live and play with family members, relatives or friends who are living with HIV. Many also tend to ignore that they need our support to lead a normal and fruitful life. Realizing this, Standard Chartered Bank SME Banking has chosen KL Bird Park to be the venue for the much needed break that the women and children of Rumah Solehah living with HIV need. Among the many activities planned for the day are batik painting class, guided tour of the park with park ranger and Ostrich feeding. At the end of the day, each of the children from Rumah Solehah was given a little souvenir to remember the outing by, courtesy of Standard Chartered Bank SME Banking and KL Bird Park.[top]


 


Jerneh Friend of Green Malaysia Short Film Competition Launch - 23 April 2009



As a result of the overwhelming response of last year's inaugural competition and in line with Jerneh Insurance Bhd's corporate philosophy of being a model in corporate social responsibility, the Jerneh Friend of Green Malaysia Short Film Competition Launch 2009, was held at KL Bird Park's very own Hornbill Restaurant. Among the VVIP and VIPs that have graced this "green" ceremony are the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment - Yang Berbahagia Dato' Razani bin Ujang, Datuk Ahmad Rejal Arbee (Chairman of EduSmith) and Mr Lim Sun (CEO of Jerneh Insurance Berhad). This competition powered by EduSmith and supported by Bernama Radio 24 and Bernama TV targets upper secondary / college students.

Tourism Australia's Media Hunt - 20 March 2009



A media treasure hunt was organized by Tourism Australia in conjunction with Tourism Australia's self-drive across Australia campaign on 20th March. A total of 10 teams from various media organization took part in this great hunt around the Klang Valley area. Among the teams that took part were Team New Straits Times, Team Bernama News and Team TV3. The flag-off ceremony was at Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. KL Bird Park was also the last leg of the hunt. After the end of the hunt, Tourism Australia and the 10 media hunt teams adjourned to Hornbill Restaurant & Cafe, KL Bird Park's very own for a rustic BBQ dinner.[top]


 


PETLIN (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Treasure Hunt - 21 Feb 2009



21st February 2009, this is the day that about 40 treasure hunters from PETLIN (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, part of PETRONAS Group of Companies, blazed thru the twisting paths of KL Bird Park frantically to complete the all crucial treasure hunt tasks. Among the many impossible tasks that the hunters have tolerate was the illusive "Wandering Treasure Hunt Marshall" which the hunters must search for in order complete the hunt. There were some who opted for 'calmer' activities, activities which allowed them to unleash their artistic side. Mothers and children who were present that day, took part in a small batik design competition.[top]


 


MAVCAP Family Day - 20 Dec 2008



"No matter how busy you are, you always make time for family!" This was what MAVCAP had in mind when they choose to held this year's family day a KL Bird Park on 20th December 2008. A total of 80 people were at that family day which includes MAVCAP staffs and their family members. There were clowns, warm popcorn and sweet cotton candy to bring on the family day mood. There was also a 'Bird Hunt' held on that day where the MAVCAP staffs and their family members have to race around the park looking for answers. Phew! This was definitely a hectic but tremendously fun day![top]


 


OCBC IT Sports Club Treasure Hunt - 13 Dec 2008



On a bright 13th December 2008 morning, about 50 "Treasure Hunters" from OCBC IT Sports Club raced through the winding pathways of the 'World's Largest Free-Flight Walk-in Aviary' to complete the all important tasks in the shortest amount of time. Among the tasks that these short of breath and sweaty treasure hunters have to endure and complete are KL Bird Park's 'Fear Factor' Quiz, freezing 'Skinny Dipping' and patience-testing bird count. The amount of excitement in the air was so great that even KL Bird Park's regular guests want to join in the fun! The other items on the 'itinerary' were the bird show, lunch and prize-giving ceremony.[top]


 


Blackmores's Christmas Party - 06 Dec 2008



Christmas joy came early for 5 charity homes on 6th December 2008 thanks to Blackmores. Blackmores together with the children and their guardians from Phielea Home, Rumah Juara Glad Tidings, Rumah Hope, Persatuan Rumah Kanak-kanak ini Disayang (KIDS) and Shephard Home came together to usher in the Christmas Spirit at Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. With classic Christmas carols playing in the background, the children, their guardians and Blackmores staff immerse themselves in the park's guided tour and KL Bird Park's Bird Show. When one of the children from the charity homes was asked about how he felt about the party, he said, "It is one of the best party I've been to!"[top]


 


Former American President Bill Clinton's Visit to KL Bird Park! - 05 Dec 2008



On a sunny 5th December 2008 afternoon, the 42nd President of the United States honored KL Bird Park with a brief visit.

In his visit to the "World's Largest Free-Flight Walk-in Aviary", former American President Bill Clinton's senses were bombarded with a great show of colors and songs from the 3,000 or more splendidly colored birds that fly freely amidst lush foliage. In doing this, the former American President was accompanied by friendly staffs of KL Bird Park. Among the many birds that former President Clinton have crossed path with, KL Bird Park's diverse range of water birds appealed to the former President's interest the most. Among the water birds; Scarlet Ibis (national bird of Trinidad & Tobago), Yellow-billed Stork and Purple Heron. The many vibrantly colorful Peacocks that roam freely around the park also caught the attention of the former American President.



In that brief visit, former American President Bill Clinton also managed to stop by our all new Peacock Gift Shop, a gift shop with a 'sky' of gift ideas![top]

This 4 days event which took place on 28 and 29 June 2008, and 12 and 13 July 2008 had received the participation of approximately 350 customers and clients of Wyeth.[top]


 

 


Lion's Club of PJ City Bird Quest Family Hunt 2008 - 29 June 2008



Lion's Club of Petaling Jaya had successfully organized a 'Bird Quest Family Hunt 2008' in KL Bird Park on 29 June 2008. Approximately 150 club members and their family had participated in this event.[top]


 

 


The Aquaria KLCC D' Treasure Hunt 2008 in KL Bird Park - 30 March 2008



To mark the end of the 'Endau Rompin Tropical Rainforest Experience' exhibition held in Aquaria KLCC, a treasure hunt named as 'D'Treasure Hunt 2008' was held where KL Bird Park as one of the partner in the exhibition, had become one of the major stops for the hunt. A total of 220 hunters had participated in the event which took place on 30 March 2008.[top]

A filming session of TV9's programme 'Ole-ole Chef Wan' was conducted in KL Bird Park on 13 December 2007. The programme which was hosted by Malaysia's renowned celebrity chef, Chef Wan Ismail had featured KL Bird Park as one of the must-visit eco-tourism destination in Kuala Lumpur.[top]


 


KL Bird Park as partner in the Aquaria KLCC 'Endau Rompin Tropical Rainforest Experience' Exhibition - 10 December 2007
KL Bird Park was invited to become one of the partners for the 'Endau Rompin Tropical Rainforest Experience' Exhibition organized by Aquaria KLCC. KL Bird Park had provided 4 Cattle Egrets to be displayed during the exhibition which took place from December 2007 to March 2008. The event was officially launched by the Chief Minister of Johor, YAB Dato' Haji Abdul Ghani Othman on 10 December 2007 in Aquaria KLCC.

MoU Signing between KL Bird Park & Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) for Kelab Penabung Muda (KPM) Joint Promotion Programme - 12 July 2007

KL Bird Park had become one of the partners under the Kelab Penabung Muda (KPM) Joint Promotion Programme organized by Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN). PLKN’s visit to KL Bird Park - 26 May 2007


A total of 277 trainees of the National Service Programme (PLKN) from Temasya Rimba Templer Camp had visited KL Bird Park on 26 May 2007. The visit is part of the trainees' community service module that inculcates the importance of protecting nature and wildlife. [top]
